Welcome to YORÉCON

Hello there. So I decided after a few months to actually publish something on this website. I mean, the domain name costs about 12 dollars per year so I guess I might as well actually do something with this site.

Speaking of the domain name, I am going to have to make an apology to the members of this one convention called YoreCon. I thought of a few domain names but they were all taken. I finally decided to use www.yorecon.com and I bought it. The thing is I didn't know about YoreCon. I also did not know about this one Irish company called Yorecon Limited. I didn't mean to steal the name or anything. I just wanted to buy a domain name and www.yorecon.com seemed like the most awesome one I could think of. What I did is not illegal. I think that when the Internet was first created, some opportunists rushed to buy domain names like www.cocacola.com and whatnot so that they could sell them at a much higher price than they were bought at. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that it was not intentional and it is not illegal. I also wanted to say that I went to the Facebook page for YoreCon and I found out that they have a link to this site. This site, however, has nothing to do with any conventions. And do notice that my title has an accent over the e.

So anyway, I guess now I can make a formal introduction.
My name is Rick Monroe. I have left this site unaltered for months. If anyone came here, they would only have seen the logo that I made in MS Paint. I decided to remove it because it was too distracting.
I am also not very good at using HTML, to tell you the truth. I am not even sure if you can use quotation marks, dashes, or apostophes so I have avoided using all of them. I just hope that you can use commas because I have used quite a few of those so far.
To tell you the truth, I do not have anything awesome to put up on this website yet...except for a recipe for fried okra. Here it is.

AWESOME FRIED OKRA RECIPE

Ingredients

Just so you know, the sliced okra, cooking oil, salt, and red chili are the only essential ingredients. The mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and chili peppers are not really necessary but do add flavor.

There are two other important notes. VERY IMPORTANT. WARNING...WARNING.
The FIRST is that if you eat too much red chili or other spices without being accustomed to them, you might get stomach ulcers. No seriously. My aunt, who is indeed a nurse, told me this. I would be careful if I was you and use only as much red chili powder as I think I could handle. I do not think that 1 tablespoon of chili powder can be dangerous but I do not want anyone going to the hospital because of this awesome fried okra recipe.
The SECOND is that the mustard and cumin seeds are explosive in hot oil. The explosions vary in intensity based on the heat of the oil. The hotter the oil is, the bigger the explosions are. Okay, they are not explosions but I cannot think of a better word. I don't think that the hot oil can do much harm. I do not use safety glasses, but do be careful. Small drops of oil might jump out of the pan at you. Try to pour the mustard and cumin seeds into the pan as quickly as possible. And remember, mustard and cumin seeds are not necessary anyway. The dish, however, is better with them. My point is that you should be CAREFUL.

Instructions

Put a pan of appropriate size on the stove.
Turn the stove on to medium heat.
    Pour in the cooking oil.
After 1.5 minutes pour in the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and the red chili pepper pieces if you have decided to put them in the dish. Then put in the sliced okra after the explosions have stopped. Mix everything around every now and then. Then put in the salt and the pepper after the okra is about half-fried. Continue mixing everything around every now and then.
The okra should be fried after 10 or 15 minutes.
Wait for the okra to cool to about a warm temperature before serving it. It is best eaten with cooked white rice.

I feel as if I was a bit vague with the instructions, but seriously, this is a simple but awesome recipe. It might take a few tries to get it right. And remember to be CAREFUL.

I do have bigger plans for this site. Expect to see some changes sometime before June 20, 2012. Some AWESOME changes.

Thanks for visiting YORÉCON. And remember to be CAREFUL
